Does anybody know any good black and white films, or old movies?
January 282010
I recently seen a movie with Audrey Hepburn that came out in 1961. I am only 19, and it was the first black, and white movie i saw. I really enjoyed it. Does anyone know any other old movies that i can watch. I am looking for drama, or horror.
Drama: La belle et la bete (1946)
Horror: M (1931)

Well, if you want horror there is:
Psycho
Halloween (not the newer one, the ones from the 80’s)
That’s all I can think of. I was going to say, if you wanted a funny, mostly cuss free old movie you could watch:
Sandlot
The Little Giants
But I dunno :/

Godzilla
Dracula
Terribly over-acted but great in their own right.

Horror – check out Un Chien Andalou. It’s a 16 minute film by Luis Bunuel and Salvador Dali made in the 1920s. The effects, especially for the time, are impressive and even now there’s one particular scene with an eyeball that will make you cringe.
Drama/Horror (a little of both) – ‘Rope’ by Alfred Hitchcock or just about anything by Hitchcock for that matter.
All Quiet On The Western Front is war themed but could fit in the drama category and is amazing
Hope this gets you started

I would recommend most of the classic Universal Monsters movies, especially; The Invisible Man, Dracula, Frankenstein, The Bride of Frankenstein, The Mummy and The Wolf Man. Not to forget the timeless classics Casablanca and Citizen Kane. Maybe a little bit of George Romero’s The Night of the Living Dead from 1968?

Schindler’s List is a really good drama. It’s very long but worth it.
Sin City is a good action flick that’s film noir.
To Kill a Mockingbird B/W not the color version.
The Day the Earth Stood Still (the original one)
Then there’s the old silent films that are B/W, but literally with no sound, sometimes a new soundtrack to it though…
Haxxan: Witches through the ages
Faust
Nosferatu
If you’re into foreign films, try some Akira Kurusawa’s samurai movies that are B&W and also long movies like Schindler’s List…
Seven Samurai
Sanjuro
Ran
Hidden Fortress
Yojimbo
Throne of Blood
