the real problem is the movie / music industry which hasn’t learned to embrace new technologies rather than trying to limit it. new technologies always makes them tons of more money — remember the big lawsuit over betamax? just think if it would have gone the other way.

Government doesn't care much, at least not the United States government, but torrent sites don't usually last too long in the US because of court cases..In other countries (Netherlands, Sweden) organizations like BREIN are trying to sue the owners of torrent search engines, and the people who provide them with internet connection.
