At the cinema, wheat does it mean when a movie is digital?

it says it on my local cinema and im just wondering what it means..

some on the showing time are digital and some are not.

It means they don’t use the actual movie film like other projectors do. The picture is clearer because there is no film to get dirty, scratched or torn.

Is the Apple Cinema computer screen which is around $800 any better than the typical monitors?

An HP 24 inch glossy monitor is about 300 bucks….

so is the Apple Cinema just another piece of overpriced hardware?

It’s overpriced hardware with a purpose– The 24-inch Apple LED Cinema Display is designed specifically for their miniDisplayPort-equipped Macbook laptops, which is why it includes features like a built-in iSight webcam and Macbook magsafe power adapter. It will not work with any other brand of PC (because nobody else uses miniDisplayPort).

So if you don’t have a newer Apple computer (with miniDisplayPort), don’t even think about getting that monitor. It will not even work with whatever computer you are using.

Personally I like the Dell 24-inch LED display. http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/Monitors/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=bsd&cs=04&sku=320-7956 It doesn’t have a webcam and isn’t designed for a specific laptop, but the LED-backlit panel’s image quality I feel is comparable to the Apple LED Cinema Display, and it has standard DVI and VGA inputs for use with any PCs. The Dell LED display costs $300.

I’d get the Dell rather than an HP (HP doesn’t have an LED display available yet).

What shall be my steps to start an Independant Cinema in my hometown?

I would probably need a grant to leese the building i have my eye on and to buy equipment. What would i need to buy? What rights do i need? Are there any copyright issues in showing old classic films? ANYTHING ELSE?

Basically, how do i start an independant cinema with funding? (Even – how much funidng owuld i need?)

THE biggest step is to obtain a license, a permit to operate a movie theatre in your area. Small localities often give out exclusive licenses, meaning that only one movie theatre is allowed in a certain designated area.

As for expenses, that will depend if you intend to start a bona fide quality movie theatre; just one screening room can cost tens of thousands when you take into account the engineering that goes into good acoustics, seats and their disposition for a minimum of comfort and good visibility, the projector and sound system, ventilation, different levels of lighting, and less we forget the screen itself which is very expensive and often gets damaged by jerks who throw food and drinks on it.

Your best course of action would be to start by visiting another small independent cinema (preferably far from your locality so the owner won’t feel threatened and won’t be reluctant to answer your questions) and see for yourself what your up against.

Should I get a Apple Cinema display or a LCD TV for my Powermac G5?

December 72009

I am planning to buy some type of monitor for my Powermac G5. The Mac Cinema display is $899 and is 24 inches. However, I am thinking that I can get a decent sized flat screen tv for that price or less. My question is, would there be any lag using the tv for computer purposes such as video editing etc. Or should I just get the Cinema Display.

The Apple 24" LED Cinema Display will not work with your Powermac G5.

You will have to use some other monitor.

The LED Cinema Display will only work with the newer Macs that have a miniDisplayPort– It will not work with older Macs that only have ACD, VGA or DVI.

Will you watch a movie alone in the cinema?

November 292009

I do it all the time and I find it no hassle, straight buy ticket and watch the film, no need to wait here and there, so relaxing!

On the other hand, my friends think that watching movie alone is sad. -.-

What do you think? And will you watch a movie alone in the cinema?

I’m hoping to get to one this week and I KNOW I’ll end up going alone because no one else I know wants to see it *sobs*….can I help that I like chick flicks???!! lol

It doesn’t bother me if I go to the movies by myself, but I must admit, I much prefer the company of someone else being there with me to enjoy it.

One big bonus – by going alone, you don’t have to share the popcorn!!

what are the required steps to open a cinema in a country?

This is more like creating something that benefits the community.
it is supposed to be more like creating something that will drive the youth from negative behavior.
I am just starting this and don’t have any experience in it ,so i need to know the "how to’s " of this.
in simple detail it is not a cinema but just to get a community hall and use it for that just for a few days.

If it is only for a few days, just call your city town hall office, and they can tell you whatever you need to do.

Every country, every state, every city has different rules to follow.

If I buy a home cinema system, can I still use my current dvd player with it?

November 252009

Posted in cinema | 4 Comments »

I wanted to buy a home cinema system but don’t know a whole lot about them. I have a new multi region dvd player so I wondered if it’s possible to somehow still be able to use it with the surround sound?

Just make sure the new system has at least one s/pdif AUX input (coax or optical), so that you can connect the digital audio output of your old player.
