Many bollywood classics are rip-off of hollywood movies.

There is a very subtle difference in being inspired and making absolute rip-offs. Bollywood is doing both, but instances of rip-off are more with a few inspirations thrown in.

We have a Pseudo Intellectual Mahesh Bhatt who is a master of rip-offs. All of his movies are rip-offs of Hollywood movies (there may be one or two odd movie, but those movies are also inspired- I have a complete list, would take time to reproduce it here). Then there is Robin Bhatt master at copying scene by scene and sanjay gupta making rip-offs. I hold these three as the biggest culprits because they adorn the garb of being great directors would sit tight and speak like they know every thing, but without any shame copy Hollywood movies scene by scene. In some of the movies they even copy the sets camera angles.

But what can be said bollywood has been in the habit of thieving music since time immemorial without giving any due acknowledgement.

But Hollywood walas don’t care, they are forgiving. But I exort them to at lease sue two of great film maker That pseudo intellectual Mahesh Bhatt, he is the numero uno and then Robin Bhatt. Sanjay Gupta can be forgiven because his works can be categorised into heavily inspired category. But these two steal scene by scene, even the camera angles.

Bright colors. Flowing drapes/curtains. Silks. Large pillows. Mosaic shapes/patterns. Scalloped arches. Flowers in bowls of water. Paisley designs, rangoli type designs. Maybe have someone who could do mehndi on people. Bangles. Depictions of some of the Hindu gods, photos of India and/or the Taj Mahal.

You probably need to stick more with an Indian theme, and then play modern Bollywood music. The more current stuff is more dance oriented. The older stuff might be a little bit of a turn off.

next start auditioning at all the open calls listed in Variety

next, get a job to support yourself…..waiting tables is the preferred job….make sure you cover al many people’s shifts as you can, so that you can find someone to cover yours when you get that big call back.

be careful not to fall into the drug scene, which is prevalent in Hollywood. However, I would encourage you to go to AA meetings all around the state…..I’m not kidding when I tell you that more than 20% of the people at AA and NARCANON are famous…..make friends there.

a friend once told me that the Scientology center in LA is a great place to meet big time producers and directors…..that’s Tom Cruise’s "religion", but it is a great way to get in front of a lot of important people.

As you say yourself, not many Indian people get famous in Hollywood, so if you have what it takes you will certainly get more famous than you are likely to achieve with Bollywood, where you could end up being one of the crowd.

Racism is still an issue, not as much as it used to be but It exist in both Bollywood and Hollywood (don’t forget your British born, they wont)

Good Luck on whichever to choose to succeed in, It will be hard work, but worth it in the long run.

I don’t really know how to do indian/bollywood makeup..maybe you could look for guidance from pictures of bollywood actresses..from what i know, they like to focus around the eyes..but it seems they wear makeup the same like everybody else…
